Elizabeth Hind looks for the extraordinary in the ordinary. Her artistic work draws its inspiration from the everyday and mundane, with a spontaneous approach that yields an eclectic range of subject matter. In her portfolio, one finds abandoned places, vast landscapes, rock shows, and minutiae of daily life. Elizabeth’s recent work concentrates on the rugged, isolated beauty of eastern California, its landscapes, and its people.

Elizabeth brings her artistry to her educational and academic work. Recognizing art as a way of knowing, she incorporates art into her pedagogical practices as a high school English teacher. As a scholar, Elizabeth is a methodologist who specializes in arts-based educational research methodologies, with special emphasis on poetic, narrative, and visual inquiries. She has presented nationally and internationally on collaborative practices and student-centered arts-based pedagogies across the curriculum.
